Manufacturing ends 2017 on high

The Australian Industry Group Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index (Australian PMI®) ended 2017 on a high with a reading of 56.2 in December 2017, down a slight 1.1 on the previous month, and further building on the recovery the sector has experienced over the year (readings above 50 indicate expansion in activity, with the distance from 50 indicating the strength of the increase).

Manufacturing jumps ahead

The Australian Industry Group Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index (Australian PMI®) jumped 6.2 points to 57.3 in November 2017, marking a 14th consecutive month of expanding or stable conditions and the longest run of expansion since 2005 (readings above 50 indicate expansion in activity, with the distance from 50 indicating the strength of the increase).
